| Description: | A leading pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Cape Town, is seeking a Cost & Management Accountant to join their team. You will be responsible for recording, storing and analysing costs in a manufacturing environment. By analysing the data, the Cost Accountant is able to review services and goods and make recommendations about cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options. The individual will be responsible for inventory control focusing on continuous, accurate updating of the inventory on accounting system. |

| General Requirements: | • Reporting to the Financial Accountant/Financial Manager • Develop both internal (management & employees) and external relationships (suppliers, industry leaders & key stakeholders) Key Duties Include: • COST ACCOUNTING o Collects and studies data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labour o Analyses the data collected and records cost information for use in controlling expenditures o Analyses and records any changes in methods, raw materials or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost o Assists in the month end close of the General Ledger and in audit preparation o Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program o Reconciles finished goods inventories o Remains acutely aware of market trends that could impact resource costs o Collaborates with department heads to strategize ways to minimize waste o Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the interdependency of cost drivers o Understands the entire arc of the business and how productivity impacts profitability o Conducts physical inventory spot checks to ensure consistency between accounting software and actual stock o Overseas monthly stock counts • REPORTS AND BUDGETS o Evaluates manufacturing costs and prepares regular reports comparing standard predicted costs to actual production costs o Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services o Makes estimates of new and proposed product costs o Assists in planning, developing, controlling, and forecasting the manufacturing budget o Assists management with building an annual manufacturing budget for the company o Monthly inventory reports • Key Vendor & Service Provider Relationships o Analyses invoices to ensure correct products/services were received at the expected cost o Assesses all incoming products, resources, and services to ensure the best price ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in finance or relevant field strongly preferred • 3-4 years’ experience as a Cost Accountant in a Manufacturing environment and Inventory Control experience • Must have a strong Cost systems background and a sound understanding of accounting principles • Sound conceptual understanding of standard costing and absorption costing in a manufacturing environment • Excellent Excel skills - proficient in creating formulas, drawing graphs analysing data, creating Pivot Charts, VLookup and Pastel Evolution experience a must TO APPLY, email your updated CV to cvs4shell@therecruiters.co.za using the reference: COST |
