Sales Consultant - Manufacturing

Max Salary: R50000
Description: Global Manufacturing company - (Mechanisms for furniture recliners / motorised beds / equipment for the manufacture of mattresses etc…) seeks a strong sales consultant. This role will be based on a call cycle, jointly pulled together and agreed on. The monthly cycle will be:

+- 2 weeks in JHB visiting customers in and around JHB

+- 1 week per month in Stanger visiting KZN customers

+- 1 week working on marketing projects etc in Benoni

One trip to Cape Town every quarter to catch up with customers

Adhoc trips into Africa. (Botswana / Namibia, and then look at developing business in selected markets like Kenya etc…)

Possibly one or two trips per year to an international show will also be required to catch up with new trends, networking

We have a good customer base, but need a strongly “customer service” oriented sales person

Many other past customers to farm from for future business

This is a very price driven market, and competitive. Must enjoy a competitive environment

Pro-active nature

The African market is reasonably untapped – we want to selectively focus on this in the future too.

Strong collaborative attitude towards local partners.
General Requirements:
On the sales person:

Either be JHB or KZN based. (The KZN office is in Stanger.)

Prepared to travel, this depending on the call cycle we come up with

Must have a structured approach – the call cycle can be planned in advance, not all customers need to be seen every week / month

Looking for an enthusiastic person, seeing opportunity and then following through on it. (Not just selling outside of the company, sometimes we need to drag our support teams inside the company along…)

Beneficial to have furniture / bedding / mattress industry experience

This is not that technical a role – but it will help a lot if they understood the product line

“strategic selling” – or “up-selling” of products needs to be developed

Some marketing experience will also be good – they have a strong International brand with good marketing support, but this needs to be put into good use.

Good computer skills – Excel, with the ability to manipulate spreadsheets / sales forecasts

Will be responsible for our own rolling forecast / demand plan / stock profile too, with the Ops Manager being part of this process too.

Past experience in setting up a decent “show room” here in Benoni and Stanger to showcase our products to our customers.

Salary +- R600 000p.a.
