Description: My client empowers cities and governments in Africa by concentrating mobility data in a single platform, integrating the best new transportation technologies from around the world. This year they are deploying their infrastructure and services to 5 – 7 more African cities impacting the lives of tens of millions of people. Due to their phenomenal growth they are now recruiting for a Project Manager to plan, design and manage projects that work with teams of local data collectors from cities around South Africa and Africa with the ambition and vision to map the whole of Africa. Key responsibilities: • Research, design, and execute data collection project for formal and informal modes of transport in South Africa and Africa. • Collect unmapped transport data to be integrated into the database. • Train your team on internal data collection and data processing tools. • Communication and collaboration with external and internal teams. • Lead budget creation to drive mapping projects in Africa. General Requirements: Requirements • A post graduate degree (honours or masters) in a statistical or analytical field of study. • Understanding of the spatial and built environment. • A passion for public transport and transport infrastructure. • Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking. • Project Managements abilities, budgeting and planning skills. • Willingness to travel in South Africa and Africa. • Excellent English communication skills • Proficiency in a second African language (eg French, Portuguese, Arabic) • Attention to detail while doing tasks of a repetitive nature. • A post graduate degree in the built/urban environment sector. (preferable) • Proven experience in data capture/processing. (preferable) • Familiarity with both formal and informal Public Transport systems in South Africa and Africa. (preferable) • Familiarity with mapping software (Google Maps, Open Street Maps, ArcGIS, QGIS) (preferable)
